As Pope Francis’ encyclical Laudato si’Laudato si’ affirms, addressing the current crisis of our common home – a crisis that is both ecological and social in nature – requires a collective commitment to deep and constructive dialogue. This dialogue must be transversal in character, involving diverse voices across religious, scientific, political, and social spheres. Only through such inclusive engagement can we effectively confront the interconnected ecological and social challenges that threaten the future of humanity, for, as the encyclical reminds us, only together will we be saved. Furthermore, this dialogue must be translated into concrete action through the development of a transversal ethics – an ethical framework capable of guiding a global socio-ecological transformation. Such a framework entails an integrated and shared approach to the complex set of environmental, economic, political, social, cultural, and spiritual issues we currently face. This transformation, therefore, is not limited to environmental protection conceived merely as the stewardship of a passive object. Rather, it calls for a broader spiritual and cultural renewal: an ecological conversion rooted in solidarity among peoples, compassion for the most vulnerable, and a culture of peace. It requires a profound reconfiguration of the systems and logics that govern our societies, economies, and worldviews, acknowledging that the degradation of the planet is intimately connected to the suffering of the poor and marginalized. The texts collected in this volume are the outcome of such a transversal dialogue, initiated by DIALOP, during the interdisciplinary conference For a Social Ecological Transformation Starting from Laudato si’si’, held at the Sophia University Institute (Loppiano) in , January 2024.
